Christian Dream Symbols - Dreaming of Passed Loved Ones

Another common theme in our research among all spiritual faiths is very consistent accounts of loved ones visiting their earthly relatives after they have passed. This usually occurs anywhere from a few weeks after death or a few months, and the accounts are very similar.

Here are the factors to look for to determine whether your dream was really just a dream or was this a communication from your passed loved one:

•  Did the 'dream' seem to have a message? Some short theme or statement made? There are actually many accounts of the person telling his/her loved one the location of those stock certificates or lock box! Or even more commonly, just letting you know that the person is ok and at peace.

•  Were YOU at peace and happy/comforted when you awoke? (likely that was the idea of making the communication to you to let you know they're ok)

•  Was this a 'Lucid' dream (see our upcoming chapter on Lucid Dreaming) but this means you really felt as if this was real and not a dream (did you ask yourself "Am I Dreaming?")

•  How soon after death did this occur? It is thought that the contact will be made a few weeks to a few months after death, and possibly before the person has actually gone into God's light and passed into heaven (or shortly after they have made this transition). This doesn't mean the person won't ever contact you again; but we have found this first communication shortly after death is the most common.

So your experience is quite common and yes, spirits can communicate with you in dreams; it's actually easier for them to make contact with your subconscious in a dream because your mind is not clogged with your daily waking activities and is more open to such communications in your sleep state (same is true with Christian Dream Symbols).

And yes, symbolism can be used by passed loved ones as well in addition to actually telling you something verbally. Was there an object or symbol in the dream that resonates with you? That was associated with the passed loved one's life? Look for that as well in your dream and definitely keep track of these types of dreams in your journal as well.
